Leon Sterling
Leon Sterling is Dean-elect of Information and Communications Technologies at Swinburne University in Melbourne. He has worked at universities in the UK, Israel and the USA as well as Australia, and has a considerable international network.
MIT Press has published his most recent book, The Art of Agent Oriented Modeling (with Kuldar Taveter). The book sets out an approach to integrating software design and social systems. The Prorettore of the University of Genova, Maurizio Martelli, describes it as ‘a new approach to modelling that can fit many different methodologies. Leon received a BSc(Hons) from the University of Melbourne and a PhD in Pure Mathematics from the Australian National University. His teaching and research specialities are software engineering, logic programming, and artificial intelligence. He consults widely to industry and has served on several boards.
Prior to his Swinburne appointment, Leon was Professor of Software Innovation and Engineering and Director of e-Research at the University of Melbourne. There he collaborated with WHH as academic coordinator and a member of the board of examiners for DSTO’s Graduate Program in Scientific Leadership.
