Larissa Joseph, Senior editor

BA (UPenn), Accredited Editor (AE)

Larissa’s unparalleled editorial expertise has enabled WHH to do excellent work in the narrow margin between the difficult and the impossible. Ensuring clarity of meaning and expression in the written word is both her passion and her profession. Her strong background in English grammar and usage and thoughtful approach to structure and language mean that she consistently meets and exceeds our clients’ expectations.

One of the pillars of our success in supporting government on complex publishing projects—usually both demanding and time-sensitive—is Larissa’s ability to engage with project teams to ensure consistent, high-quality work. She has taken the lead role in more than 20 annual report projects over the past six years.

Since she joined WHH in 2007, Larissa has built a fine reputation as an editor of major government reports in policy areas such as climate change, Indigenous affairs, finance and education. She has earned the respect of our clients for the intellectual rigour she brings to her work and her meticulous attention to detail.

Before joining WHH, Larissa was a senior editor for 10 years in the Philadelphia office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, a large international law firm. In that role she edited legal documents for readability and accuracy, coordinated and managed projects, and trained new editors.

Larissa received a bachelor’s degree (summa cum laude) from the University of Pennsylvania in Ancient Greek and Latin. She was awarded the university’s classics prize and was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa honours society, membership in which is based on high academic achievement.

Larissa was one of the first to earn Accredited Editor status in Australia and chaired the Accreditation Board of the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd) in 2009. She has been an active member of the Canberra Society of Editors and was its representative on the IPEd Accreditation Board from 2007 to 2011.
