Bem le Hunte
Bem has earned an international reputation in two creative fields – in literature, and in corporate communication and advertising.
Her first two novels (The Seduction of Silence, and There, Where the Pepper Grows) have been both critically and commercially successful in Australia and overseas; and she also has writing credits in the film and television industries.
Bem’s novels reflect her connections with India, England and Poland. She received her MA in social anthropology from Cambridge University and has UK qualifications in journalism and advertising. Her book tours and brand development assignments take her around the world.
Bem directs Icon Advertising, a boutique agency that leverages her intellectual and creative talents. She has a rare ability to develop and communicate the ‘big idea’ about a brand. Her clients have included American Express, Microsoft, ninemsn, Intel, the Savoy Group of hotels, Greenpeace, Dell, British Telecom, Telstra, Optus, Volkswagen, Commonwealth Bank, Cisco, Virgin Atlantic, The Labour Party (UK), Coca Cola, Australian Consolidated Press; and emerging national brands in India.
As a senior associate of WHH, she has contributed to major projects for a number of Australian Government departments. Beyond her capacity to conceive, plan and implement information campaigns, Bem is especially valuable in devising ways to make deep public program information resources more accessible online.
